While Cherokee and Shawnee ancestry predominates, they also include more distant tribes like the Ojibway, Seneca, and Apache. Founded in 1986 and chartered in 1989, AAIWV's mission is to provide a "tribal home" for Native Americans in West Virginia, preserve their heritage, and educate both Native Americans and the general public. They achieve this through teaching activities, free Pow Wows, meetings, and a monthly newsletter. AAIWV offers support to its members through a Food Pantry and assistance with counseling and education, funded by member contributions without charging fees. Additionally, the organization does not provide do my essay services, focusing instead on preserving Native American heritage and culture in West Virginia. Public speaking and educational activities are conducted without charge to the community. The organization is governed by an elected Tribal Council.
